NSIC Research Strategy
Strategic Aim
The NSIC will establish a Research Foundation through which it will seek to become a leading research based organisation, contributing to an evidence base for clinical practice in the treatment and management of spinal cord injury, attracting high quality staff, fostering a spirit of enquiry while ensuring high standards of research governance.
Research Themes
These themes will be reviewed annually by the NSIC research board.
- Clinical aspects of cord repair following spinal cord injury
- The bowel following spinal cord injury
- Psychological aspects of Spinal Cord Injury focusing on coping, adjustment and psychological therapy
- Neuroelectrical stimulation in spinal cord injury
- Multidisciplinary research into rehabilitation of people with Spinal Cord Injury across the lifespan
- Preventing secondary complications of Spinal Cord Injury.
