Peripatetic Service

The peripatetic team is part of the Spinal Outpatient Service's multidisciplinary team. The team provides part of the ongoing service to patients of this centre by visiting the patient at home, giving telephone advice and information, as well as written literature to patients, their relatives, carers, community professionals and other interested parties.

The criterion for visiting within our own Health Region (Southern Health Region) includes a visit within 6 months of discharge post initial rehabilitation. We also visit post discharge following pressure ulcer treatment or for many other problems brought to our attention by patients, their community team or members of this centre's multidisciplinary team. It is emphasized that we do not provide an emergency visiting service.
