The Posture and Seating Clinic

The posture and seating clinic is available to all patients at the NSIC. We aim to:

• Screen all first admission patients (adults and children) with regard to posture, comfort, function and skin care needs.
• Provide a review of seating needs (both wheelchair and cushion) for readmission and outpatients
• Provide a forum for education and for patients, staff and carers regarding posture, seating and skin care
• Liaise with local wheelchair services regarding provision of equipment

TThese aims are achieved by one experienced therapist with input from the patient’s treating physiotherapist or occupational therapist; information from medical and nursing staff is also encouraged. The results of the assessment are communicated to all staff involved, including the patient if required.

We do not provide any equipment but will refer on to local wheelchair services regarding recommendations for equipment.
